Indian squad for friendlies in Tajikistan: Ryan Williams out with injury; No Mohun Bagan players included

India will play Tajikistan without Mohun Bagan Super Giant players or Ryan Williams, as coach Khalid Jamil named his 22-man squad for the international friendlies in June.

The Blue Tigers played two games in the Unity Cup, against Jamaica and Zimbabwe, losing both, and dropped one spot in the FIFA rankings to 137th in the latest update. They will look to pick themselves up against the Tajiks, who they defeated 2-1 in last year’s CAFA Nations Cup.

Williams, who suffered an injury in the opening match of the Unity Cup, was left out of the squad and replaced by NorthEast United striker Parthib Gogoi.

Bagan’s players, who were initially included in the provisional squad for the Unity Cup, were not released by the club outside the FIFA window and were left out of contention for the June friendlies.

India will play Tajikistan twice this month, on June 5 and June 9.
