Mohammedan Sporting Club secured its first point of the 2025-26 Indian Super League (ISL) season with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Odisha FC at the Kalinga Stadium on Friday.
Suhair VP gave the hosts the lead just before half-time, but Adison Singh’s close-range finish early in the second half saw the points shared.
Mohammedan remains at the bottom of the table with one point from eight matches, while Odisha FC moves to twelfth place with six points from seven matches.
The opening exchanges were cautious, with both sides looking for rhythm in midfield. Odisha enjoyed possession while Mohammedan looked to threaten on the break, but clear chances were few in the first quarter of the match.
The breakthrough came five minutes before half-time, via a quick counter-attack. Isak Vanlalruatfela initiated the move from deep before connecting with midfielder Lalrinfela Khiangte, whose perfectly weighted through ball released Suhair on the left. The forward burst into the penalty area and unleashed a powerful left-footed strike past Padam Chettri to give Odisha a 1-0 lead.

Mohammedan responded almost immediately, with Adison Singh forcing a save from Amrinder Singh just before the break as Odisha held a slim half-time lead.
The visitor came out with renewed intent in the second half and created chances early on. Lalremsanga Fanai and Mahitosh Roy saw both attempts go wide, with the latter missing a golden opportunity after a loose ball from the Odisha goalkeeper.
Mohammedan’s perseverance paid off in the 56th minute after Hira Mondal made an overlapping run down the right and delivered a low cross into the penalty area, where Adison arrived at the perfect moment to guide the ball into the top corner, making the score 1–1.
Then the match started and both sides pushed for a winner. Mohammedan looked dangerous on the counter, with Adison and Llangaihsaka combining well, while Odisha controlled possession and probed Isak and Lalthhanga.
Odisha came close to regaining the lead in the latter stages, with Rahim Ali almost taking advantage of a goalkeeping error and Isak’s curling effort forcing a fine save from Padam Chettri. Carlos Delgado also went narrowly wide with a header from a set piece.
The final whistle meant Mohammedan earned his first point of the campaign while Odisha had to settle for a share of the spoils after a competitive encounter.
