Japan football legend, Kunishige Kamamoto, the record goalscorer for his country, has passed at the age of 81. The former attacker played 13 years for the Samurai Blue and spent his entire club career at Yanmar Diesel.
«Kumamoto Kunishige, former vice -president of the Japan Football Association, had undergone medical treatment for some time and died at 4:04 am in a hospital in the prefecture of Osaka because of pneumonia,» said the Japanese football club in a statement.
«Kamamoto was a former member of the Japanese national team (1964-1977) and was the top scorer at the Mexico City Olympic Games with seven goals. In 2005 he was admitted to the Japan Football Hall of Fame. He was 81 years old.»
