Kylian Mbappé can show ‘commitment’ to Real Madrid: Alvaro Arbeloa

Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa on Wednesday called on France striker Kylian Mbappe to “show his commitment” to the team in the final three games of the season.

Mbappé has been criticized by the club’s own fans in recent weeks, including for going on holiday to Sardinia while recovering from a thigh injury.

The forward missed Madrid’s Clásico defeat to Barcelona on Sunday, leaving the Catalan giants as La Liga champions for the second season in a row and Los Blancos ending the season empty-handed.

“If he is there, can complete training and is available, then he will certainly get some minutes… and the opportunity to continue to show his commitment to the club in these three games,” Arbeloa told reporters.

The Spanish coach said he hopes top scorer Mbappe can play and “continue to score goals, showing, as I said, the commitment he has to Real Madrid, and that is what I would like to see as a coach but especially as a Madridista”.

Arbeloa said he believes France captain Mbappe has given 100 percent to the team ahead of Thursday’s La Liga match against relegated Real Oviedo.

Mbappe is likely to be the target of whistles from Madrid supporters at the Santiago Bernabéu.

«I couldn’t believe that a Real Madrid player wouldn’t give everything he has for the club because then he wouldn’t know where he is,» Arbeloa said.
