Manisha Kalyan became the first Indian to score in a South American competition when she scored the winner for Alianza Lima against CA Mannucci on Friday.
The 24-year-old struck after half an hour as Alianza Lima, the defending champions, won the match 1-0.
Manisha, who previously played for Apollon Ladies in Cyprus and PAOK in Greece, joined Alianza Lima in January this year.
She made her debut in a 3–1 win over Deportiva Universitaria on 6 February and opened her account against Universidad Catolica in a 4–1 win in a friendly match in Chile. It was the second time Manisha has found the net in South America, with her previous goal coming in a 1-6 defeat for India against Brazil in 2021.
At the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup, Manisha was one of India’s goalscorers and has continued her form in club football after the tournament.
