Matt Ryan left out of the starting line-up in the Australia-Turkey FIFA World Cup 2026 match

Australia have excluded goalkeeper Mathew Ryan from the starting line-up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup match against Turkiye at the BC Place in Vancouver, Canada.

The 34-year-old goalkeeper remained on the bench for the meeting with Patrick Beach, who was elected to his position.

Ryan has been a regular in between the posts for Australia over the years, collecting 104 caps to date. Beach, on the other hand, only played one match for the Socceroos before the World Cup.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper trained at Central Coast Mariners before moving to Melbourne City, where he has made 53 appearances to date.

Ryan, now 34, spent the last year with Levante in La Liga and previously played for Brighton and Hove Albion, Arsenal and Real Sociedad.
