Morocco defeated the Netherlands 3-2 on penalties on Monday during the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 32 at Monterrey Stadium.
After the match finished 1-1 at the end of extra time, Ismael Saibari scored the decisive penalty to send Morocco through to the next round.
The African country will next take on Canada in the Round of 16 in Houston on July 4.
Neil El Aynaoui and Achraf Hakimi failed to convert for Morocco, while Justin Kluivert, Quinten Timber and Crysencio Summerville missed with their efforts for the Dutch team.
After the hydration break in the second half, Cody Gakpo opened the scoring in the 72nd minute and the Netherlands shot ahead after being set up by Summerville.
With time running out for Morocco, Issa Diop struck with a header in the first minute of extra time, sending the match into extra time.
