Morocco’s international unbeaten run comes to an end after losing in the quarter-finals of the World Cup


Morocco suffered its first defeat since 2025 after losing 2-0 to France in the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Boston on Thursday.

The loss ended the team’s 34-match unbeaten streak, the sixth-longest streak in international football.

Mohamed Ouahbi’s side remained undefeated throughout the group stage, drawing with Brazil and recording victories over Scotland and Haiti. The Atlas Lions held off the Netherlands on penalties in the round of 16, before recording a comfortable victory over Canada in the pre-quarter finals.

Italy is the record holder with 37 consecutive matches without defeat between 2018 and 2021.
