NorthEast United FC announced on Thursday that Moroccan forward Alaaeddine Ajaraie has signed a two-year contract extension, committing his future to the Highlanders until the end of the 2027-2028 season.

Since her arrival in 2024, Ajaraie has enjoyed a remarkable journey in Highlander colours. He inspired NorthEast United FC to the club’s historic first major trophy by lifting the Durand Cup in 2024-2025, before helping the Highlanders successfully defend the title in 2025-2026.

Ajaraie carried over that form into the following campaign, finishing as winners of both the Golden Boot and Golden Ball at the 2025/26 Durand Cup, as NorthEast United secured back-to-back titles. His exceptional performances were further recognized with the FPAI Foreign Player of the Year 2025 award, adding to an extraordinary string of accolades in just two seasons at the club.

After signing his new contract, Ajaraie said: «From the first day I arrived, the people at this club and the fans made me feel at home. We have created some unforgettable memories together, but I believe our journey is far from over. I am happy to continue wearing this badge and I will continue to give everything I have to help this team and make our supporters proud.»

Head coach Juan Pedro Benali welcomed the extension, saying: «Keeping Alaaeddine with us is fantastic news for the club. His quality is clear for all to see, but what really makes him special is his humility, professionalism and dedication to the team every day. He represents the values we want at NorthEast United, and I am excited to continue working together as we pursue even greater goals.»
