Nottingham Forest appoint Oliver Glasner as new manager

Nottingham Forest hired former Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner as their new manager on Monday.

Glasner left Palace at the end of last season after leading the team to glory in the UEFA Conference League.

He also led Palace to their first major silverware when they defeated Manchester City in the 2025 FA Cup Final.

Glasner is Forest’s fifth manager in the past year, after Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou, Sean Dyche and Vitor Pereira.

“I am delighted to be joining Nottingham Forest as head coach,” said Glasner.

“From my very first conversations with the owner and leadership team, it was clear to me that they have a clear vision for this football club and have full confidence in me and my staff to build a strong long-term future together.

“Nottingham Forest is a club of incredible prestige and history, a two-time European champions with one of the most passionate fans in football.

“Our aim is to build a team that can help take the club to the next level in the coming years and that our supporters can be proud of.”

Glasner replaces former Wolves boss Pereira, who was surprisingly sacked last week.

Glasner was previously linked with AC Milan, a role then filled by former Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim, and, more recently, the vacant role of Germany head coach after Julian Nagelsmann resigned following their World Cup exit.

The 51-year-old Austrian, who joined Palace in 2024, guided Eintracht Frankfurt to the 2021/22 Europa League crown.

Forest finished sixteenth in the Premier League last season, one place and one point less than Palace.

“In our conversations with Oliver, it became clear that we share the same vision, the same ambition and the same relentless desire to succeed,” said Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis.

“He has consistently demonstrated throughout his career that he can build excellent teams and achieve success against the toughest competition.

“Our ambition is not simply to compete, our ambition is to win, to compete for great honors and to create a football club that our supporters can be proud of for many years to come.”
