Police ask for help locating missing Appalachian Trail hiker


TOAuthorities in Front Royal, Virginia, have issued an urgent appeal to locate John Marshall Nunn, a 60-year-old man who has been missing for more than two weeks. Nunn had been hiking the Appalachian Trail and was last seen on Sunday, April 12, 2026, leaving the Baymont Inn on Commerce Avenue in Front Royal.

John Marshall Nunn’s last known status

Nunn was expected to travel to Culpeper, Virginia, to board a train bound for Gum Spring, Virginia. However, investigators confirmed that he never arrived at the station and his current whereabouts are unknown.

Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for Nunn, who is described as 6 feet tall, with brown hair and hazel eyes, a Marine Corps tattoo on his upper arm and wears glasses. Due to medical conditions, Nunn has been classified as an endangered missing adult.
