Scotland midfielder Ryan Christie has signed a three-year contract extension through the 2028/29 season, Bournemouth announced on Saturday ahead of Scotland’s opening match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“Ryan has made a hugely important contribution to the football club since he joined and we are pleased that he has signed a new contract,” said Tiago Pinto, the club’s head of football operations. “He is an important part of the leadership group in the locker room and has consistently demonstrated his value to the team through his performance, experience and dedication.”
Christie has made 177 appearances in all competitions for Bournemouth, scoring 10 goals and setting up a further 17 goals since joining from Celtic in August 2021.

Last season the 31-year-old made 26 Premier League appearances, scoring against both Crystal Palace and Manchester United, and helping Bournemouth finish sixth – their best ever finish and enough for his first qualification for European competition.
“With the World Cup just around the corner, it felt like the perfect time to sign before leaving, and now I can fully focus on the future,” Christie said in the team announcement.
Scotland, back at the World Cup for the first time in 28 years, will face Haiti in Massachusetts on Saturday evening.
