Leaving Rockspring Hut, I only had to climb a bit to Stony Man with multiple great views. Fortunately, the rain came today and I was able to enjoy the views. After Stony Man, the road got tougher for Shenandoah. There were many rocks and steep climbs, although short.
These little guys are everywhere
Elkwallow was the smallest of the three Waysides. They had shakes and the blackberry shake is still worth it. I was able to sit and enjoy a respite from the rain while writing postcards.
After Elkwallow it is only 5.8 miles to the Gravel Springs cabin. Like yesterday, this last stretch had good views. The rain stopped and the clouds also cleared, making it worth stopping to enjoy the views.

The rain came down hard again at 7:30, which made me happy to get an early start. Instead of trudging through the rain, the mice, Take 2, and I are comfortable in the shelter. Another hiker ran in after the rain but jumped right into his sleeping bag and I don’t blame him.
