There is no clarity yet about Carrick’s future at Manchester Unite

Michael Carrick said he enjoys managing Manchester United but is not pursuing an answer over his future as the club closes in on a Champions League spot.

The former United midfielder was appointed head coach until the end of the season following the acrimonious departure of Ruben Amorim in January.

Carrick masterminded wins against Manchester City and Arsenal during an impressive spell that has lifted United to third in the Premier League.

But he still has no clarity about his future.

“I’ve said it many times: I enjoy being here, I enjoy the role I’m in,” Carrick said on Thursday, ahead of Monday’s home game against Brentford.

«We’ve had some good results and we’re in good shape. I think there’s still a lot to go (of the season). We still want to keep improving. There are levels we want to go to, really. I’ll see, you know.»

«I keep saying the same things every week. There’s only so much I can say about that, but I’ve said it many times.»

«Again, I enjoy being here, I love being here. It’s a real privilege to be in the position that I am now, but to thrive with the responsibility that we have.»

The former England international, 44, said he was unsure when he would get clarity on his future.

«It’s actually not something I’m really chasing in terms of deadlines. I think it will become clear when it becomes clear.»
