East Bengalen and Mohun Bagan Super Giant renew their age-old rivalry when the parties meet on Sunday, both fighting for a place in the semi-final of Durand Cup 2025.
Both teams were at the top of their respective groups and entered the knockouts without losing a competition.
The last time the parties met in a Kolkata derby was last month, on July 26, in a Calcutta Football League (CFL).
Eastern Bengal came at the top with an exciting 3-2 victory over Mohun Bagan with David Lalhlansanga who nested the winner in the 69th minute.
The red and gold brigade gave a healthy lead of two goals during the break after goals Jesin TK and Sayan Banerjee had given the benefit coached by Bino George.
However, the Deggie Cardozo team has mounted a second half comeback by goals from Leewan Castanha and Kiyan Nassiri to repair parity. But Lalhlansanga had the last word in the game.
