The Netherlands scored four goals until the 55th minute in the Group F match against Sweden at the Houston Stadium on Saturday.
Brian Brobbey got the Dutch side going with his goals in the 12th and 17th minutes before Cody Gakpo got on the scoresheet by scoring two goals within seven minutes of half-time.
This put the Netherlands on the brink of securing their biggest World Cup victory.
The score currently stands at 5-0, which the Dutch team secured during the 1998 World Cup after shooting past South Korea five times in the group stage. Phillip Cocu, Marc Overmars, Dennis Bergkamp, Pierre van Hooijdonk and Ronald de Boer scored the goals in that match.
