Norway’s return to the World Cup after 28 years is already creating a lot of color and cheer in the stands.
As Norway took on Iraq at Boston Stadium, Norwegian fans in their bright red shirts were seen singing a rowing song from the stands, which caught the attention of many.
The supporters made a synchronized rowing gesture while shouting ‘Hu!’ shouted, which bore similarities to Iceland’s Viking clap from the 2016 European Championships.
The rowing gesture is probably related to the rowing of Viking longships, which is linked to Norse culture.
In a clip on social media that has now gone viral, Norwegian supporters playfully rowed up an escalator at the Boston Garden.
