With a record 48 countries scheduled to take part in the biggest edition of football’s premier event, the 2026 FIFA World Cup is finally here.
The tournament, co-hosted by the US, Canada and Mexico, will feature 104 matches, a significant increase from the 64 played in previous iterations.
The competing nations will now focus on a month-long pursuit of glory after completing their preparations for the tournament.
Argentina enter the tournament as defending champions and one of the favorites, while Brazil, a record five-time winners, will be hoping to return to glory days under legendary manager Carlo Ancelotti.
In the opening match, co-host Mexico will take on South Africa on June 11 at Mexico City Stadium, also known as Azteca Stadium.
