The 34-year-old, who has featured in Brazil’s last three World Cup campaigns, has struggled with form and fitness but manager Carlo Ancelotti decided to take him to the World Cup anyway.
Why doesn’t Neymar play in Brazil versus Morocco?
Neymar will not play in Brazil versus Morocco as he recovers from a calf injury, although he is expected to return later in the tournament.
«Neymar is working very hard to recover as quickly as possible,» Ancelotti said. «We called him up not only because of his football qualities, which are undeniable, but also because of the experience and example he can give to the younger players in the group.»
Despite not making the matchday squad, Neymar traveled to the stadium with the team.
