Bayern Munich will take on Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League at the Parc des Princes in Paris on Tuesday.
Bayern will look to reach its first Champions League final in five years as it hopes to gain an advantage to take home for the second leg.
Despite the fact that it may be the toughest match of the season, Bayern will have to make do without head coach Vincent Kompany.
Why isn’t Vincent Kompany on the sidelines for Bayern Munich versus PSG?
Vincent Kompany will not be on the sidelines for the first leg of Bayern Munich’s Champions League semi-final after his suspension. Assistant Aaron Danks will take over the duties.
Kompany was shown a yellow card in Bayern’s thrilling quarter-final win over Real Madrid as he challenged the referee’s decision to allow the opposition to play through and score after a hard tackle on Bayern defender Josip Stanisic. It was his third yellow card in what was Bayern’s twelfth Champions League game of the season.
He argued that UEFA should relax the rules now that there are more matches than ever.
«It is an extensive format, and it is the strictest ruling ever with a lot of interpretation from referees, and sometimes you can also get a yellow card wrong. So what happens then?» That’s what Kompany said after the match.
However, he had faith in Aaron Danks to guide the team through the first stage.
«Danksy has a lot of experience and was on the sidelines in England for a while. I have 100% confidence in the staff and everyone else,» said Kompany.
Kompany was still training on Monday before Bayern left for Paris, but on Tuesday he will be excluded from the team’s dressing room and bench at the Parc des Princes.
