Ghanaian defender Derrick Luckassen scored for the African side against Croatia in their Group L match in Philadelphia on Saturday.
However, the goal was only allowed after a lengthy check from the Video Assistant Referee.
The goal came from a free kick, which Luckassen met and turned into the goal. Initially the goal was disallowed for offside. But the check revealed that midfielder Kwasi Sibo was the player in an offside position.
As Sibo was not directly involved in the goal, Ghana’s equalizer stood, bringing the score back to 1–1.
