Fans of Swiss football club Young Boys were banned from a Europa League match on Thursday as punishment for the violence that stopped matches at Aston Villa last week.
Young Boys fans threw plastic bottles that hit Villa goal scorer Donyell Malen and clashed with stadium security staff during their team’s 2–1 defeat on November 27. Play was stopped for about five minutes in the first half.
UEFA said disciplinary judges have fined Young Boys €50,000 and banned the club from selling tickets to fans for the next away Europa League match.
Young Boys will play in Stuttgart in the final round of the league matches on January 29.
