PSG passes fifth-tier Fontenay in the French Cup

Ousmane Dembele ended his goal drought as Paris Saint-Germain reached the last 32 of the French Cup with a 4-0 win over fifth-tier Vendee Fontenay on Saturday.

28-year-old Dembele, who added the FIFA Best award to his Ballon d’Or earlier this week, scored from the spot in a match played at the Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes.

PSG are seeking a third successive French league and cup double this season, but sit second in Ligue 1, one point behind surprise leaders Lens.

Dembele set up Desire Doue to open the scoring in the 25th minute with a cool low finish into the far corner.

PSG were awarded a penalty shortly afterwards for shirt-pulling Goncalo Ramos, and Dembélé scored for the first time since October, ending a run of eight games without a goal.

Ramos made it three in the 53rd minute, tapping in Senny Mayulu’s low cross after a quick side move, before doubling his tally five minutes later.

Elsewhere, Lille needed an 80th-minute goal from Marius Broholm to move past fourth division side Creteil 1-0, while Lorient beat AS Le Gosier of Guadeloupe 7-0 in a match played in a Paris suburb.
