Serie A 2025/26: Dybala out for six weeks as Roma battle for the top four


Roma, which is competing for a Champions League spot in Serie A, will have to do without Argentine striker Paulo Dybala for more than six weeks due to a knee injury, Italian media reported on Friday l6sh.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport And Skysport ItalyDybala underwent surgery in Rome on Friday after suffering “a complete longitudinal tear of the external meniscus”.

The 2022 World Cup winner interrupted Thursday’s training with what Roma initially described as «muscle fatigue».

He is expected to be out for 45 days, meaning he will miss seven matches in the Italian league and the round of 16 of the Europa League against compatriots Bologna.

He did not feature for Roma in February, with the club citing a ‘knee problem’ as the reason. He returned to the bench for the match against Juventus on 1 March, but was an unused substitute in a 3–3 draw.

The 32-year-old Dybala lost his undisputed starting position at Roma at the end of last season. This season he scored just two goals in seventeen Serie A appearances.

Roma are fourth in Serie A, 16 points behind leaders Inter Milan, but just two points behind third-place Napoli and three ahead of fifth-placed Como.
