Osimhen adds another trophy in Turkey, capturing back-to-back SuperLig titles with Galatasaray

Galatasaray clinched its fourth consecutive Super Lig title on Saturday, beating visitors Antalyaspor ‌4-2 to extend its domestic dominance and claim a record 26th competition.

The Istanbul side went into the match four points ahead of second-placed Fenerbahce, with one match remaining. The victory was needed to move out of reach after they missed an earlier chance to seal the title in a 4-1 defeat at Samsunspor last weekend.

Coach Okan Buruk’s side have once again set the pace in a tight title race, recovering from setbacks to keep Fenerbahce at bay and underline its grip on the Turkish league.

Galatasaray secured the victory in the second half with two goals from Victor Osimhen, including a penalty, between strikes from Mario Lemina and Kaan Ayhan.

The result sparked celebrations at RAMS Park and across Istanbul, with TV footage showing fans waving flags and torches, singing and dancing with joy in cities across the country.

Fenerbahce, which also finished second in the previous four seasons, once again pushed the champion closest, but the wait for a first national title since 2014 continues.
