Day 2 begins with a water search
I woke up with a beautiful dawn after a decent break. I had to stretch a little water until I hit a fire station about 7 miles in the day. I was a little nervous about that, but I had a start early enough. I thought the sun would have the opportunity to throw any blow.
The fire station walk was great. It started with a small climb to start, but then mostly rolling. Not having to press too much, let me really stretch my water supply. I arrived at the Fire Station, I filled and met some more hikers. Two of them, I think their names were Joe and Angie, had spent a year living in my hometown and working as traveled nurses! They lived in a great place of local music during their time in New Hampshire. It is always great to have small moments of the world like this on the way.
A terrifying moment on the road
After the fire station, I went through a park that had a little use of heavy mountain bicycles. I am not used to sharing the path like that, but it was fun talking to the locals along the way. At a scary moment, I found a motorcyclist who had just taken a tough fall and needed a ransom. Fortunately, an emergency room doctor was on his trip and was able to provide assistance until the injured pilot could be collected. Always a good reminder that an accident can happen anywhere, at any time here.
After re -enforcing the walk, I had a great climb to the camp. Fortunately, there is a short distance from the camp tonight, so there will be no need to ration water again. We hope it is what I bring tomorrow!
Pink, spine and sprout
Rose: Hiking felt a little better today. I am finishing more than 8,000 feet for the night and breathing definitely feels better.
Thorn: Witness of that accident and rescue. I feel bad that someone’s adventure came to an end. It is a reminder to try to stay at the time and think about each step.
BUD: I have a great climb to start the day tomorrow. If I can measure it, I could put in some great miles.
