The entire hostel went to the restaurant for breakfast. After this, it was time for the shakedown!
Shakedown time!
My dad has had some problems with his knee and one thing that can help is lighten his load. A while ago, Ferdinand offered to send us some things we didn’t need to his friends in Maine. Today is the day!
My dad has lightened his load by 5 pounds! Spare pants, bar of soap, three or four bags of unnecessary things, grocery bag, puzzle book; He even carried a European charger which he can’t use here?! It’s good that we did this.
I also got rid of another pound from my backpack, sending him my sunglasses and case, fleece pants, extra buff, and a few other small items.
It’s not the only thing we’ll send today. It’s always nice to be able to send a little card home, and that’s what we did. Somehow it’s cheaper to send a card from here to the Netherlands than to just send it home, which is strange. But we really like post offices! What great service!
Things from the other day in the city.
The rest of the afternoon consisted of restocking at the local supermarket, relaxing at the hostel, and going out to dinner. My girlfriend and my dad’s wife gave us dinner today at a restaurant of our choice! Which is super sweet!
Ferdinand has made many references to the movie Tombstone during our walks together. Saying it could be my blueberry and all that. We were planning to watch Tombstone tonight, but unfortunately there was no way to stream the movie. Then we play darts!
The awakening of the Dutch Dragon?
We had to see if the darts powers of “The Dutch Dragon” were instilled in my dad now, with his cool new darts t-shirt! It wasn’t like that… But it was on fire! I played against my father, Dreamcatcher, PK, Ferdinand and Treehouse, the owner of the hostel. Out of the two rounds, I won both!

But the most important thing is that we had fun! These two zero days have been great. Not only for my spirit, but also for my body. After the 27 mile marathon to Damascus, I have been feeling a little stiffness in my knee and some muscle pain in the arch of my foot. Both problems are gone again! Which is great!
Ready to go again tomorrow!
