England will start their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign in the US, Canada and Mexico, hoping to end their 60-year wait for a major trophy.
The Three Lions will have a German head coach, Thomas Tuchel, who has made some bold choices with his selection for the tournament
Tuchel has left out Chelsea playmaker Cole Palmer after a disappointing home season in which he scored 10 goals, including five from penalties.
On his exclusion, Tuchel said: ‘I think he (Palmer) is primarily suffering from a lack of individual form within the club. He wasn’t as decisive or as influential as he has been in recent seasons, all season long.
«Secondly, he wasn’t very influential with us. His record with us just wasn’t great, not good enough to make him ‘whatever happens, he’s coming.’ That’s just the reality.”
Palmer has two goals, including a goal in the European Championship final defeat in 2024, in fourteen appearances for England.
