Brazilian winger Raphinha has said he will do everything he can to make a quick return from injury following a World Cup setback.
The 29-year-old was forced off during Brazil’s victory over Haiti after experiencing tightness in his right leg. Subsequent medical tests confirmed a muscle injury in his right thigh, making his participation in the remainder of the tournament uncertain.
Raphinha had played a key role for Brazil in the games against Morocco and Haiti, making the timing of the injury a major blow to the side ahead of Wednesday’s match against Scotland, with qualification for the round of 16 still at stake.
However, the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) confirmed that Raphinha will remain with the squad as he continues his recovery programme.
In an emotional post on Instagram, Raphinha shared photos from his early days with the national team and reflected on his childhood dream of playing for Brazil.

“I chose this photo first because it reminds me of where it all started,” he wrote, as quoted by Goal.com. “The boy who dreamed of wearing the shirt of the Brazilian national team is still there.”
Raphinha added that his commitment to the team and the shirt had not changed despite the injury.
“I love football, I love what I do and I love wearing the shirt of the Brazilian national team,” he said. “I will do everything I can to recover and return as soon as possible.”
The winger also said he wants to stick by his teammates and continue supporting Brazil’s campaign.
