The Premier League season 2025/26 starts on Friday evening when Liverpool takes on Bournemouth.
With the arrival of the new season, millions of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers will hunt a few budget -mid -field options for their teams.
Here are five interesting budget options to consider in the midfielder position for the coming season:
Tijjani Reijnders
Manchester City enters the 2025-26 season without an ever-present Lynchpin in Kevin De Bruyne. In the hope of emptying the midfield, Dutch International Tijjani Reijnders will be. The attacking midfielder has the talent to come to the end of goals opportunities, according to his 10 goals from midfield for AC Milan in the Serie A last season. A bucketload of targets in the preseason makes him a great midfield option in FPL at only 5.5 million. But with the notorious ‘Pep Roulette’ always striking fear at FPL managers, he can wait for a case.
Koaru mitoma
Koaru Mitoma has been a trusted budget -midfielder in FPL for the past two seasons. But an indifferent start to the 2024-25 season saw him disappear from FPL-Line-ups. However, he had a strong end of last season, where he scored three in his last five performances. 10 goals and four assists in a season are still a decent return for a budget option, especially in view of the fact that he is a nailed start option on the left wing for Brighton and Hove Albion.
Hermila Hare
Another wing player with the potential for a strength of haul is Crystal Palace -wing player Ismaila Sarr. Eight goals and seven assists in the previous season make him one of the best options at 6.5 million. With the future of Ebereechi Eze in the balance after the interest of both clubs in North London, SARR could be the one who pops up like the maker of the FA Cup winner.
Pope Matar Sarr
As a central midfielder, Pape Matar Sarr is not an ideal candidate for a berth in midfield in FPL. But injuries to Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison have opened a slightly more offensive starting slot for SARR. A strong show in the preseason, where he scored a long-ranger against Rival Arsenal in North London, has promoted his potential for return to the game. With only 5 million, he remains a great option to alternate between the bank and the starting XI.
Granit xhaka
Former Arsenal -Schipper Granit Xhaka could be a different budget midfielder who is running from the bank. With the latest update that aims for more points for defensive contributions, the Sunderland -midfielder could get a good points. A added boost is his assets in Dead-Ball situations and the possibility to help points on set pieces.
