Successful clubs from Iraq, Tadjikistan and Cristiano Ronaldo: Meet the opponents of FC Goa in AFC Champions League Two 2025-26 Group Stage


The Indian Super League club FC Goa returned to Asia after four years when it booked its group stage in the AFC Champions League Two 2025-26 group phase after beating Oman’s Al Seeb Club in the play-off competition. The Gaurs were signed in Group D Besides Al Nassr of Saudi Aarabia, Al Zawraa SC from Iraq and FC Istiklol from Tajikistan.

Al Nassr (Saudi -Arabia)

The biggest name in the FC Goa group must be Nassr with names such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane and Joao Felix, to name just a few.

The club has granted three Saudi Pro League titles in the history of the competition. Recently it finished third behind Al Ittihad and Al Hilal last season in the competition.

In continental tournaments, the club has won the Asian Super Cup and the Asian Cup Winners’ Cup once. Both tournaments do not exist now. Last season Nassr already reached the semi -final of the AFC Champions League Elite.

Al ZaWraa SC (Iraq)

Al Zawraa SC is the most successful club in Iraq and has won 14 top flight titles. It also has 16 Iraq FA Cup titles to his name.

Last season it finished second in the Iraq Stars League and 10 points fell short of champion Al Shorta.

In Asia it was the last time it was in the AFC Champions League Two in the 2023-24 edition. It finished second in his group and did not make the knockout phase.

FC Istiklol (Tajicistan)

Although he was founded in 2007, FC Istiklol has already lifted the Tadjikistan Top League 13 times.

The club also has a jealous record in Asia. It participated several times in the AFC Champions League, with its best performance in the 2021 edition when it reached the round of 16 phase.

In the AFC Cup, which is now the AFC Champions League Two, Istiklol finished second in 2015 and 2017. Last season it played in the AFC Champions League Two and had a winless group phase campaign.
