Next year’s World Cup will contain three mascots: Clutch, a bare eagle who represents the US; Zayu, a Jaguar for Mexico; And maple, a moose for Canada.
FIFA announced the trio on Thursday, less than nine months before the tournament starts on 11 June and marks the first World Cup in three countries.

For comparison: the World Cup 1994 in the US introduced its mascot, a dog named Striker, at a Hollywood news conference in October 1992. The campaign invited fans to submit names and attract more than 25,000 submissions.
