Super short post today!

Today I started a little later than usual and hiked 10 miles before seeing another hiker. The reason? It was 101 degrees! I know I’m a seasoned Southern belle who knows how to walk in the Georgia heat, but this heat and terrain would even make Scarlett pause before running after Rhett, and with the possibility of heat stroke, Rhett wouldn’t give a damn!
The first people I saw were Vegemite and Dancey, washing their clothes and playing in a stream. 🙂
Other than that, there were no other human beings on the path!
Tonight I camped alone in the mountains for the first time. It’s probably not my favorite. Fortunately, I didn’t see any white walkers (my grandson was worried he might see these legendary ghost creatures while he was alone in the mountains. Very comforting, right? Thanks, AJ).
The hike up the mountain was peaceful…and HOT!

Once I set up my tent, night began to fall and everything became quiet.
The wind rustled through the treetops as the moon shone silently overhead. Peace settled over me.
Good night God, my family and all the creatures of the forest.
PS: Remember… I’m a vegetarian and I pose no threat! 😉
Next day of the route:
These are some of the people I met yesterday:
Two brothers:
Done Digging (he owned his own digging company)
Done Trucking (he owned his own trucking company)
bitter patch
Neon
I see
Big Tuna

I also got to see Tootie again today! I thanked him for everything he poured into me three days ago, and this time we even took a photo together!! He is 85 years old and walks 10 miles a day.

The second picture is my high tech bug barrier! 😂 I might have to start selling them on Etsy! I could up my game by adding monogram options. HA HA HA!
I will use it for the first time today. My hope is to hear the insects buzz, smile, give them the middle finger, and continue walking down the trail! Take that mother bell!
I’ll keep you posted!
Below are the miles I walked today. There is a heat advisory along the trail tomorrow, so I have no idea how far I will be able to hike.

Last but not least…after a two mile climb up a mountain, I was finally rewarded with my first truly beautiful view! I felt the need to sing “The hills are alive, with the sound of music,” just like Julie Andrews! If I wasn’t so thirsty, I probably would have.
I also want to give a shout out to Showtime who is hiking with his dog!
And another thank you to Smoky Bear, who started this hike to Key West, Florida.
This last photo is of me and Crazy Truck Mom!!!!

Until next time,
Alpha finishes and leaves
