Jude Bellingham’s double goals allowed England to battle past Norway 2-1 in the quarter-final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup at the Miami Stadium on Saturday.
Andreas Schjelderup opened the scoring for Norway in the 36th minute before Bellingham equalized in first-half stoppage time.
Norway had a second goal controversially disallowed after a VAR review in the second half due to a foul by Erling Haaland, as both players were pushed to the limit going into extra time.
England completed the comeback early in the first period of extra time, when Bellingham took advantage of a mistake from goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland to poke the ball into the net.
Bellingham is now fourth on the golden boot list, ahead of teammate Harry Kane, with both players scoring six each.
The Three Lions will face the winner of the match between Argentina and Switzerland in the semi-finals next Wednesday.
Haaland’s spectacular goal run in his last 14 league matches for Norway came to an end against his native country when Norway’s depleted talisman was replaced at half-time of extra time.
After failing to win a knockout match at the World Cup after conceding the first time since the 1966 final for the tournament, England have now done so twice in three games.
