While yesterday I felt a little lonely, I definitely didn’t today! We walked all day with a group of people.
I left the camp with Ferdinand and Chef. That’s when I noticed she had a really stylish “The Trek” hat on, so I asked her if she was blogging too. He didn’t, but before starting this trek, he worked for The Trek. Very cool!
Its original trail family is “Eunice and the Lonely Hearts,” to outsiders on the trail better known as “The Wine Five.” But they got a little ahead of themselves. So, Ferdinand and I, the good adoptive parents that we are, decided that our mission would be to bring her back to her original ‘tramily’.
The conversations made the time fly! At least until it started raining again. Wet socks are no fun, but the rain brings out these little red salamander-like animals called red efts, which are really cool.
Good things come to those who wait.
We walked to Big Bald with a very nice view. It’s past lunchtime and this would normally be a lovely place to have lunch. But, with the rain and the threat of thunder, we decided to press on.

Fernando and Chef
On the way down there were no good places to stop, so we decided to postpone lunch again and take it at the next shelter. It’s already after two in the afternoon and we are hungry.
But good things come to those who wait! Lovely trail angels Warren and Lauren made chocolate cake for everyone, along with some fresh fruit! We were hungry at the time, so this couldn’t have come at a better time! I swear this cake is the best I’ve ever had.

All aboard!
The trombone was here too. When we decided to move on, he joined our little train of hikers, now consisting of four people.
The chef asks: “Do you think it will start raining again today?” Before I could say, “No, everything will be okay,” it started pouring rain.

Wet we arrived at the camp. Megan joined in too. We made dinner and wandered around. Despite the rain, today was a good day.
