England’s preparations for the 2026 World Cup suffered an unexpected setback after training equipment was stolen before the team’s arrival in Kansas City on Saturday.
Vehicles transporting equipment to England’s training base at Swope Soccer Village were broken into, with footballs, boots and other equipment feared to be among the items taken. The Football Association is currently investigating the extent of the theft.
Head coach Thomas Tuchel and his squad were expected to arrive in Kansas City on Saturday afternoon, with equipment expected to be in place before their arrival.
Police officers attended the scene on Friday evening and are working with the FA as investigations continue. It is understood two arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
The theft could potentially affect England’s preparations for the World Cup opener against Croatia on Wednesday. The team will hold its first full training on Sunday.
