Argentina will complete its preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with two friendlies in the United States before starting their title defense against Algeria on June 16. Lionel Scaloni’s side, the defending champions, will face Honduras and Iceland in June as part of the final build-up to the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The team has chosen Kansas City as its base for the World Cup. The Sporting KC Training Center will serve as the Argentina team base camp, and the squad is expected to use it for training, recovery, team meetings and operations between matches.

Argentina’s final World Cup selection has not yet been officially announced. Lionel Scaloni drew up a provisional list, including Inter Miami skipper Lionel Messi, and the final roster is expected to be trimmed before the tournament. Messi is also battling a hamstring strain ahead of the World Cup, with Inter Miami saying his return to training will depend on the progress of his recovery.
