We always stick to the plan, but today I have to admit it; we swirl. Without any regrets.
We woke up from the Chestnut Knob shelter. This place has one of the best sunrises apparently! But not for us, there is a dense fog on the top of the mountain. It’s still cool though.
Come for the waffles..
We walked for a mile and a half and saw a sign: «Hot Waffles! At Burkes Garden Lodge.» I mean…breakfast is the most important meal of the day, right? We need calories. It’s only half a mile off the road. Let’s do it!

This place is amazing. What a nice porch too. Fast internet too. Might as well do some blogging while I have the chance, right?
Dreamcatcher picked up the guitar and started playing. Ferdinand and my dad looked into the distance. None of us wanted to be the one to say “We have to go!”, so no one did. Until noon we sat there, acting as if we had nothing to do.
«It would be crazy to keep sitting here, huh…» Ferdinand said timidly from the corner. We all look at each other with a particular eye and a smile on our faces. I mean, we could. Let’s check if there is room in the plan. That’s when Cantaloupe, the owner of Burke’s, suggested we could do a 4.7 mile slackpack.
We adjusted the plan a little and this rest day fits perfectly! What a strange coincidence. Okay, let’s start with the slack packet so we can continue being lazy later.
making peace
This is the first time we haven’t packed our bags. The only thing I can say about it is that it is very pretty! You fly over rocks and mountains without weight on your back.
At the end it started to rain heavily. I’m glad we can shower and sit inside. Otherwise, we would have to go through this. Good decision.
Meanwhile, Doohickey also came. We met him in Damascus and the others know him too. We heated up some pizzas, played some games, and all watched a movie together on the TV inside. We chose King Kong. What a terrible movie, but we had some fun.

We are here to walk, but giving up today seemed right. We all had an amazing day, none of us regretted it. It was wonderful.
