Despite the sign, there is no possibility of reaching the North Pole from Goodwick, while Rosslare, at the south-eastern tip of Ireland, is only 62 miles away, by sea of course, i.e. about 100 km. I left my friend J sitting happily in the sun in a white t-shirt and boarded the ferry to Ireland. Later J headed home by train.
