Gokulam Kerala twice came from behind to hold Aizawl FC to a 2-2 draw in the relegation stages of the Indian Football League (IFL) 2025-26 at the Deccan Arena in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
Aizawl have secured relegation with 13 points from 11 matches, while Gokulam remain in the relegation spot with nine points, making the final match against Namdhari FC a relegation decider. Thanks to this result, Real Kashmir FC is now also safe from relegation.
Zomuansanga gave Aizawl the lead in the 10th minute, which was equalized by Mirjalol Kasimov in the 17th. The former then converted a penalty in the 32nd minute but Gursimrat Singh equalized again in the 43rd to give Gokulam the crucial point.
Aizawl broke the deadlock after a quick counter-attack as Zomuansanga sold goalkeeper Shibinraj Kunniyil with a clever shoulder pop, disguising his shot towards the far post before producing a powerful finish to register his fifth goal of the season.

However, Gokulam responded just seven minutes later. Kasimov took a free kick in the 17th minute and unleashed an absolute thunderbolt to bring his side level.
The course of the match became erratic and stop-start, but the People’s Club remained well organized in their transitions and deservedly regained the lead. A push from Gokulam defender Lalbiakhlua into the penalty area in the 32nd minute resulted in a penalty, which Zomuansanga confidently converted.
Trailing again, the Malabarians took advantage of the chaotic pace to find a second equalizer just before half-time. From a free-kick in the 43rd minute, Gursimrat applied the second touch and headed a header over the stranded Aizawl goalkeeper, who was caught flat-footed after what should have been a regular save.
In the second half the pace dropped considerably, with the game stuck in first and second gear. Aizawl eventually piled on the pressure and dominated the final half hour in search of a third goal, but ultimately had to settle for a solitary point.
