Newcastle defender Tino Livramento could miss the rest of the season with a thigh injury, putting his place in England’s World Cup squad in jeopardy.
Livramento has been a regular – when healthy – in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad this season and is valued for his ability to play as both a right-back and a left-back.
He suffered what Newcastle manager Eddie Howe described on Friday as a «major injury» during the 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth last weekend and has already undergone an initial scan.
“He will have another scan this weekend to determine the full extent of his time out,” Howe said. “We will wait and see if he plays again this season.”

The Premier League ends on May 24 and England’s final World Cup squad must be submitted by May 30.
England’s right-back appears to be Chelsea’s Reece James, who is currently injured, while Tuchel is overlooking Real Madrid’s Trent Alexander-Arnold. Burnley’s Kyle Walker retired from international duty in March.
Jarell Quansah and Ezri Konsa – center backs, of course – and Ben White, who has not been a regular starter at Arsenal, remain as other potential right-back options.
The World Cup starts on June 11 and will take place in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
