Neymar remains cautious about possible moves in the MLS

Brazilian star Neymar said he is still weighing his next move despite reports linking him with FC Cincinnati.

“I honestly don’t know,” said the 34-year-old attacker ESPN on Thursday.

He added that he plans to finalize his current contract with boys’ club Santos, which expires at the end of this year.

Neymar, who captains the club in Brazil’s Serie A, has been limited to eight games in 2026 due to a knee injury. He has four goals and three assists.

Earlier this month, reports stated that FC Cincinnati officials were exploring the possibility of bringing Neymar to MLS this summer.

Neymar returned to Santos in 2025, where he started his professional career from 2009-2013. He is best known for his time at world powerhouses Barcelona (2013-17) and Paris Saint-Germain (2017-23), where he played alongside current MLS superstar Lionel Messi at both clubs.

An ankle injury delayed Neymar before his departure from Paris Saint-Germain, leading to a spell at Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, where his short tenure was halted due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Neymar has been a regular in the Brazilian national team since 2013 and has not played for his country since 2023. He has publicly stated that he wants to be part of Brazil’s FIFA World Cup team in North America this summer.
