Rayo Vallecano coach Iñigo Pérez resigns, two days after the modest Spanish club lost the final of the Conference League.
Pérez led Rayo, a small neighborhood club from Madrid, to the first major final, losing 1-0 to Crystal Palace.
Rayo president Martín Presa confirmed during a press conference on Friday that Pérez would not sign a new contract as his current contract expires.

The 38-year-old former player was an assistant under former Rayo coach Andoni Iraola, who left to take over Bournemouth in 2023. Pérez took over as head coach in January 2024 and quickly impressed with his composed attitude and the urgent style he brought to his team.
In 2024-2025, Pérez led Rayo to an eighth-place finish in La Liga, good enough for their first European finish in 20 years.
Pérez has not said where his next job will be. He has been linked with a move to Villarreal, who will play in the Champions League next season.
