It’s not every day you get to dive under a waterfall! The lunch break really made the day special.
old school discussions
Something I noticed that’s really nice along the way is that you get to have some old school discussions again. Usually when you and the person you’re talking to have a different view of the truth, you Google it, find the answer, and the discussion is closed.
But here, much of the trail doesn’t have much internet coverage. So if you have a little debate about something, you can’t instantly search for it. Keeps the discussion open, with time to argue your thoughts and an opportunity to change your thoughts based on the arguments the other person presents. There’s more room to marvel here, which I think is great.
Wellbeing on the road
After a stretch of hiking on some gentler trail again, which was much appreciated, we arrived at the waterfall! This one is amazing, because it is smaller and has a small pool at the bottom. I couldn’t resist taking a little dip!
It was cold, but very refreshing. I set up my foam sleeping pad on the rocks, dried off, stretched a little, ate some food, and even made some hot chocolate along the way.
Normally our lunch break is half an hour to an hour, but we all sat here for an hour and a half. Simply relax, enjoy the sounds of nature, soak our feet and take a short nap. I felt more rested here than after a real spa day.
Unfortunately, we can’t stay here forever.
So, we started walking again! Which was lovely. I was still very relaxed from our break and there was a nice cool breeze. If you closed your eyes, you would fall. But for a second you would think you were taking a walk on the beach.
But we couldn’t go far without stopping again, because Stitches, a 1999 hiker we met in Damascus, was making magic on the trails! Thanks stitches!
We arrived at our tent site, spent a nice evening together, and went to bed.
