Uruguay head coach Marcelo Bielsa on Sunday announced a 26-man squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde is the star name in the squad, with Al Hilal striker Darwin Nunez, Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo and Manchester United midfielder Manuel Ugarte among the other prominent names.
Two-time champion Uruguay is in Group H, along with Spain, Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia. The South American side starts its campaign on June 16 when it takes on Saudi Arabia

Bielsa has not made a call for veteran striker Luis Suarez, who recently indicated his willingness to retire.
«You start thinking about it today, turning it around in your head, and with the World Cup close by, if they need you… what do you do? I will never say no to my country, never will I say no to my country,» Suarez said in an interview with the Uruguayan publication Ovation newspaper.
Suarez is Uruguay’s all-time top scorer, with 69 goals in 143 games.
