What is Colombia’s record on penalties?

Switzerland and Colombia will battle for a place in the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup as their Round of 16 match at BC Place Vancouver goes into extra time on Tuesday.

Neither side managed to break the deadlock within 90 minutes. This is the sixth match in the tournament so far to go to extra time, three of which were decided by penalties.

Colombia’s record in penalty shootouts at the World Cup

Colombia has only participated in penalty kicks once in its FIFA World Cup history. It was during the 2018 edition against England in the Round of 16.

The match finished 1–1 as Harry Kane and Yerry Mina found the back of the net before Colombia lost 3–4 in the penalty shootout after Mateus Uribe and Carlos Bacca missed from the spot.
