Senegal goalkeeper Eduoard Mendy was subbed off in the 63rd minute of the side’s 2026 FIFA World Cup Group I match against Norway on Monday.
The 34-year-old injured his right thigh after a powerful shot from Erling Haaland and had to be taken off the pitch, with Mory Diaw taking his place.
The team physio was called onto the pitch for treatment, but despite their sustained efforts, Mendy was unable to get further into goal.
The unfortunate ending summed up the evening for Mendy and Senegal, who conceded three goals in just over 60 minutes, seriously damaging their hopes of reaching the round of 16.
