Wrexham’s latest attempt to qualify for the Premier League starts with a Welsh derby against Cardiff in the Championship.
The match will take place on August 17 at the Cardiff City Stadium and will conclude the first round of matches in England’s second division.
The Championship published the schedule on Thursday, with the matches starting a week before the start of the Premier League.
Wrexham finished in seventh place – one position outside the play-off spots – in its first season in the Second Division since the 1980s, after an unprecedented three successive promotions under Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac. It was the highest ever finish in Wrexham’s 162-year history.
It will be the first competition match between Wrexham in North Wales and Cardiff in the south of the country since 2002. Cardiff were promoted at the end of last season.
Wrexham then has two home games, against Watford and Birmingham.
Manchester United and Liverpool are among Wrexham’s pre-season opponents before the Championship campaign gets underway.
