Athletic Bilbao will sign Aymeric Laporte after the World Football Board of World Football has changed its attitude on Thursday.
The Basque side tried to bring in the Spanish defender of the Saudi Arab club Al-Nassr on 1 September, but the move was not completed before the transfer deadline.
FIFA rejected a request from the Spanish football federation (RFEF) last week to make an exception for the relocation of Laporte, but Athletic said that the RFEF request has now been granted after it wanted to destroy the decision.
Spanish media said that Al-Nassr had not entered the details of the transfer online in the FIFA transfer Matching system.

«Athletic Club would like to report that the FIFA has authorized the RFEF to obtain the International Transfer Certificate (ITC) from the Saudi Aarabic Football Federation,» Athletic said in a statement.
«Once the ITC has been issued, Aymeric Laporte can be registered with Athletic Club.»
Laporte, 31, left athletic for Manchester City in 2018 before he came to Al-Nassr in 2023.
