Blackberry Smoothie – Fox’s AT Thru Hike – Day 59

I removed all the tape from my knees. Generally my rule is to tape it down and leave it until the tape starts to fall off. He started to fall. The first part of the day was fast miles. Shenandoah is definitely flatter, but I hope this also means I’m in better shape.

Camera still wet

At the intersection of Lewis Mtn Campground there was a sign with an angel on the trail, so I headed to the campground. Nishka Santa created a magical path. I really enjoyed chatting with him. We talk about EMS and its history. But I couldn’t stay long and left with chips, a banana and fresh water.

Big Meadow down the road had milk, so milkshakes came out. I have a blackberry and a chocolate to compare. The blackberry was new, good and worth the $7. After Big Meadow there were a series of nice viewpoints. The first was occupied by two people who had a disagreement, but later there were several. I stopped at one and had another snack of cheese and crackers.

Some days I love this view more than the views.

Rock Spring Shelter had good water and a great group of hikers. We spent the afternoon chatting about life and hiking. The hikers on the stretch gave us all the leftovers. Nowadays I never say no to food.

The knees are fine.
